Dr. Wagner Mello and Lenka Varekova are among the 350,000 nurse practitioners (NP) around the country working to address shortages in primary care, responsible for more than one billion visits annually. As NPs located in New York City, Dr. Mello and Lenka will be assessing patients, ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, determining diagnoses, creating and managing treatment plans, and providing health education autonomously. They are also dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities and closing gaps in access, quality, and affordability of care.
Acupuncture aims to clear Qi blockages and restore equilibrium. It is frequently used to treat neurological, musculoskeletal, digestive, immunological, and psychological symptoms. To accomplish this, very fine needles are inserted into the skin for 20 to 30 minutes.
It is nearly painless. Some patients may feel a “tingle” sensation when the needle is inserted. All needles are sealed in sterile packaging. They are opened in front of the patient during treatment, and they are disposed at the end of the treatment.
Cupping is sometimes used to treat a large area, like the back or a limb. A glass bowl creates a partial vacuum that "sucks" onto the skin upon contact. After the vacuum releases after a few minutes, the cups are removed. This therapy can treat stagnated energy, promote lymphatic drainage, draw out toxins, and provide relaxation.
Gua-Sha is a simple and effective traditional healing technidue practice widely in China, Vietnam, and other parts of East Asia. During the treatment, a round-edge instrument is used to stroke the skin. Massage oil is applied to the surface of the skin to ease discomfort from friction. Then, pressure is applied to reach the subcutaneous fascia.
The treatment reduces Ai blockages and facilitates circulation. The skin may appear bruised after the treatment with stagnant blood and metabolic waste products emerge to the surface. After 3 days, bruises fade. Afterwards, blood circulation greatly improves and muscle tension reduces.
Intravenous (IV) therapy is a safe and effective procedure that improves your health, strengthens your immune system, promotes hydration, and reduces fatigue. The procedure administers fluids and nutrients directly into your veins to maximize effectiveness and nutrient absorption. Unlike taking supplements, IV therapy allows the body to better absorb nutrients and reduces nutrient loss. We provide a variety of formulas to work on your individual goals.

It is effective in treating acne scars, wrinkles, large pores, sun spots, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, skin inelasticity, and many more. At the office, we use the highest quality instruments, salicylic acid, and serum to maximize effectiveness and outcomes.
With aging, hormone levels can fluctuate and become unstable. This phenomenon is common for women undergoing menopause. Common symptoms include irregular periods, dryness, hot flashes, sleep irregularities, mood swings, and weight gain. For men, testosterone levels begin to decrease starting at age 30, and these levels rapidly decline after age 50. Common symptoms include loss of libido, low bone mineral density, low sperm count, and mood swings. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) relieves these symptoms by managing your hormone levels. By balancing your hormones, HRT helps you feel healthy on your wellness journey.
Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a commonly performed procedure aimed to reduce facial wrinkles, relax facial muscles, and produce smoother skin. The procedure stays effective for several months and can be performed multiple times for sustained effects.

I have had several treatment by Dr. Mello and let me say he has magic needles. I suffer from migraines and after each treatment I am pain free for several months.
It was an honor to get to work with Dr. Mello for about 6 months during his final phase at PCOM. I'm sure I presented multiple challenges, given the complexity of my hemorrhagic stroke 8 years before. I have made tremendous progress in every respect through constant efforts and continuing to explore new methods. Acupuncture, administered by a knowledgeable and sensitive professional like Dr. Mello recharged my progress. His deep knowledge of western medicine helped me to integrate the two systems elegantly. The true measure is improved strength, coordination and dexterity; reduced tremors eliminating the need for two meds and even improvement in the convergence problem I've had with my vision. I look forward to continuing with Wagner in his private practice.
I met Dr. Mello at the the Philadelphia Trans Health Conference 2015, and he has been treating me with acupuncture ever since. His treatments are very helpful, specially with my depression and anxiety, not to mention the feet, knees and lower back pain. At 50 years old, Acupuncture keeps me healthy and mobile, and the fact he's a Registered Nurse makes me feel even safer.
